A Force-sensitive Calamarian, she was recruited by my sister Leia Organa-Solo for my Jedi Academy. She is also an ambassador from Mon Calamari. Cilghal used her proven ambassadorial skills to hold the twelve Jedi students together in the days following the attack on me by the spirit of former Dark Lord of the Sith Exar Kun. She aided in the plan to defeat Kun, then departed Yavin 4 for her most difficult mission: healing the dying Mon Mothma. Cilghal discovered that the former chief of state was suffering from a poisoning of nano-destroyers, artificially created viruses that were dismantling Mon Mothma's cells one nucleus at a time. Using her considerable Healing abilities, Cilghal set about to instead dismantle the nano-destroyers, billions of them, one at a time. In doing so, she healed Mon Mothma.

Cilghal, unlike most of the other Jedi students, did not decide to be a Jedi full time. She felt that her work as an Ambassador of Mon Calamari to the New Republic could do more good for the galaxy. I wholy support her in her decision. In fact, she participated in the New Republic investigation on Ryloth of the Diversity Alliance, which ended up with the disbanding of that group. She also helped Jacen Solo, Anja Gallandro, and Zekk destroy an andris spice cache hidden under Mon Calamari's ice cap by Black Sun. She led the group in helping Anja kick her andris spice addiction, as well. Cilghal is one of my most distinguished students to date.

Cilghal took on an apprentice, a Chadra-Fan female named Tekli. Though Tekli wasn't very strong in the Force, she used what skills she had; with a teacher such as Cilghal, that was more than enough. Cilghal was a born healer, and when Mara Jade-Skywalker was poisoned with a biological weapon by the Yuuzhan Vong, Cilghal was her primary physician. I feel that without Cilghal's healing flippers Mara would have died and our son, Ben, would not have had a chance. For that, I owe Cilghal a great deal of thanks.

And so too does the Jedi Order owe her its thanks. Because of Cilghal's tireless research into Yuuzhan Vong bio-tech not only can we identify yammosk communications, but her work also led to the destruction of the voxyn queen at Myrkr, removing a serious threat to all Jedi. Her apprentice was on the strike team that destroyed the queen, and through Cilghal's expert teaching, Tekli managed to use her skills to keep many of the team members alive.

Because of Cilghal's tireless effort & long history of dedication to the Jedi, I nominated her as one of the 6 Jedi members of the newly formed Jedi Council, later named the High Council. The other members include Kenth Hamner, Kyp Durron, Saba Sebatyne, Tresina Lobi, & myself.
