Nothing could have prepared me for the moment when I realized that Leia was my sister. Still suffering from the trauma of finding out that Darth Vader had been Anakin Skywalker, my father, it was another dizzying blow to discover I had a twin sister wth whom to share my birthright. Leia, being the child of Anakin Skywalker, one of the strongest Force-users I've ever encountered, has the potential of near unlimited power, though she has never begun formal training. Leia has had many obstacles and challenges in her life, from being the youngest Senator ever in the Imperial Senate to leading the rebel cell that helped destroy the Death Star; from marrying Han Solo and having three very Force-strong children, the twins, Jacen and Jaina, and the youngest Anakin, to protecting her family from innumerable threats and the New Republic from political squabbling as Chief of State.

I suppose Leia's Force-sensitivity helped her through these things, in it's own distinctive way, especially after the destruction of her home world of Alderaan by Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin. Even though she carries a lightsaber and I have taught her various minimal powers, Leia is not a Jedi, having had no formal training. I feel a little saddened by the fact that she has incredible potential that's yet untapped, yet she's contributed to the Academy in other ways, such as introducing us to Cilghal, one of my first students, as well as allowing her children to train as Jedi. Leia grew up with a political surrogate family, and so she thinks in a political way. Despite that, we are always there for each other, and being twins we have a subconscious rapport that is strengthed by our powers in the Force. Leia is always there for me, and I for her.

Shortly before the invasion by the Yuuzhan Vong, Leia gave up her commanding role in government and became an Ambassador. She helped seal the treaty between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, among other things. When the Vong began terrorizing the galaxy, Leia tried to rally a defense but the Senate would have none of it. She managed to talk the Hapans into supplying a fleet, however, 3/4 of it were destroyed at Fondor when her sons Jacen and Anakin couldn't decide on whether or not to fire Centerpoint Station. She became very active in SELCORE, the Senate Select Committee for Refugees, relocating and aiding those displaced by Vong attacks. She spearheaded the attempt to make the planet Duro habitable again, though she was ultimately foiled by Vong scheming. In fact, she went face to face with the Vong Warmaster, Tsavong Lah. During the confrontation, she took heavy damage to her legs, and was narrowly rescued by her son Jacen. The recovery from her wounds was long and arduous, but Leia came through it just fine. She also began a Jedi support network after Lah's proclamation for all Jedi to be turned over to the Vong. She, Han, and Jacen tried finding a safe haven for the Jedi to stage from, since the destruction of Yavin IV, using the Maw Installation as a temporary base. At the same time they were harassing Vong supply routes, and working on their family interactions. Though Leia's Force-skills leave something to be desired, she more than makes up for it in her diplomatic skills and iron will.

That iron will was put to the greatest test ever though. The Jedi were confronted by a creature called a voxyn, created by the Vong from the DNA of the Force-hunting vornskrs of Myrkr. Several Jedi were killed by these creatures, and a strike team was put together to destroy the one voxyn from which all others were cloned. Leading this team was Ankain Solo, and among the other 16 Jedi were Jaina and Jacen. Though both Han and Leia, as well as I, were worried about them, we knew it had to be done. The mission was a success, though at a heavy cost. Several of the team members were killed, including Anakin. No one took this loss harder than Leia, connected to him in the Force as she was. On top of that, Jacen was taken captive by the Vong. Leia has been through much, and I fear that there may be even greater challenges in the future.
